The Fun-Loving Trader

The next psychological trader profile from Van K. Tharp’s personality types is the Fun Loving Trader.

This type of trader has a great deal of optimism and is generally a playful and social person who enjoys life.

Fun Loving Trader Qualities

As mentioned above, the Fun Loving trader is an optimistic, playful, outgoing personality type that tends to enjoy social interaction, as well as their material comforts.

These traders can be highly productive and often bring common sense and a logical approach to their trading activities.

Another key aspect of the Fun Loving trader is their infectious enthusiasm. This trader type has a definite zest for life and their work, and they usually let it show.

Trading Strengths

The Fun Loving Trader’s most prominent assets consist of their unlimited optimism and their infectious enthusiasm.

This trader personality type would do well to select a profitable trading plan and to stick to it as much as possible, avoiding any emotional involvement.

Trading Challenges

The challenges for the Fun Loving Trader are mainly combating boredom and the tendency to trade impulsively when trading is no longer fun.

In addition, the Fun Loving Trader has a worrying tendency to start chasing money out the door once they have put on a losing trade.

For example, they might double up on a losing position or try to scalp the market to make up for the losing trade.

The Fun Loving Trader — along with the Artistic Trader and the Socially Responsible Trader — are the three trading personality types which Tharp thought have the most work cut out for them in order to be successful traders.
