Continuing with the series of trader personality types by Van K.
Tharp, the next profile is the Detailed Trader.
This trader type tends to be very quiet with a serious demeanor
that tends to make decisions based on logic and analysis.
Detailed Trader Characteristics
The Detailed Trader possesses two of the three key elements needed
for success in the markets. These consist of:
- The ability to use logic and analysis to make decisions, and
- Being decisive, organized and able to do things in sequence.
Other useful characteristics of the Detailed Trader personality
type include being methodical, organized, systematic, thorough and dependable.
Nevertheless, as with the majority of detailed oriented people,
seeing the larger picture may sometimes present a challenge for the Detailed
Trader.
Trading Strengths
The optimal trading situation for a Detailed Trader would consist
of implementing a proven and profitable trading plan that would be easy to
follow and which the trader feels confident about.
The talents of an especially detail oriented person — such as
being organized and dependable — will often be put to excellent use in the
trading arena.
Trading Challenges
A Detailed Trader most often is challenged by getting distracted
with trading system analysis and the minute details of their trading plan.
This distraction may consequently keep them from trading at their
full potential.
In addition, failing to see the big picture can impede the
Detailed Trader’s overall trading performance.
